Why Miss Peacock?
Once upon a time, I was a middle school math teacher right here in Fairview, TN. I love peacocks and decorated my classroom with them. Not before too long, students and fellow teachers were gifting me with more peacocks! Finally, a student exclaimed in class, “Can we call you Miss Peacock?” I answered, “Why, sure you can. You can call me Mrs. Escandell, Mrs. E., or Miss Peacock!” The next year I attempted to go crazy with the persona, but our family situation instead birthed: Miss Peacock’s Tutoring!
I am passionate about teaching! I originally became certified in TX and still have a lifetime teaching certificate there. After four years working with two elementary schools between 4th grade self-contained and gifted and talented classes I decided to stay home and raise my family up. I came back to the profession after my children were school age beginning to substitute all around the local schools and my heart connected with a child that inspired me to work full-time along side the students with disabilities team. Less than two years later, God prompted me to go all in and apply for a 6th grade math position. I enjoyed that for three years until this new season took me by surprise.
Let’s take the journey forward together. . .
